Qualification | NVQ Level 2 | Units | 7 | Aimed at | Employees involved in the transport and delivery of goods | Additional information | Covers vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes (light vehicle, van, motor cycle or pedal cycle) | What will your employees achieve? Carry and Deliver Goods is an NVQ Level 2 qualification. NVQs are practical qualifications which assess and recognise the skills, knowledge and understanding your employees have in a work situation. This NVQ offers your employees the opportunity to demonstrate they have the skills to carry out their role to national standards. It will also broaden their knowledge of the transport and logistics industry. Having a recognised qualification will help them in their work, and open doors to future career development. Who is it aimed at? Carry and Deliver Goods is designed for employees involved in the transport and delivery of goods. This includes - Experienced employees, who wish to have their competency recognised and gain certification
- New employees who have undergone basic training and are in the process of gaining industry experience
There are no entry requirements or age restrictions for this NVQ. Your employees will, however, need to have a full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle they are using (unless they work as a pedal cycle courier). How long will it take? Seven units must be completed. This can be done over a period of time, which is negotiable with our trainers and assessors. There are no written exams – our assessors will look at the evidence your employees provide to see whether they meet the requirements. Evidence could include statements from managers or records such as delivery documents. What does the course cover? Six mandatory units and one optional unit must be completed. Mandatory units - Contribute to effective working relationships
- Maintaining the safety and the security of the load, self and property
- Contribute to the provision of customer services
- Complete pre-journey and post-journey procedures
- Planning the route and timings for the delivery and collection of loads
- Transport goods and materials
Optional units - Handling goods and material
- Handling goods (Motorcycle and pedal cycle)
Each unit is broken down into elements, which describe the tasks to be carried out. For example, Unit 5 (Planning the route and timings for the delivery and collection of loads) contains - Element 5.1 Identify a route to the destination
- Element 5.2 Estimate driving distances and times for the route
- Element 5.3 Plan driving stages
